On behalf of the City of Cologne, represented by the Office for Children, Youth and Family, Department of Children's Interests and Youth Promotion, LILL SPARLA landscape architects from Cologne have planned a very compact, sports and leisure-oriented play area for the whole family at this location. It functions as a link between the adjacent parks, which desires and permits the coexistence of many users.
The entire area is located in the flood-prone area due to its proximity to the Rhine, which limits the design options, determines construction methods and requires a specific height of sensitive areas. Certain park areas serve as retention areas and are flooded during high water.
For annual bridge maintenance, the underside of the bridge must be accessible by crane truck. This is made possible by a specially developed 2m x 2m attack grid.
