The subject of this project is the design and restructuring of the "Rhine side" of St. Goar, including the entire Rhine foreshore and the Rhine bank of the core city.
An overall concept that is sustainable in the long term was developed for an area of approx. 6.6 ha as part of the competition. The focus was on the inner-city Rhine embankment, the B9 through-route and the adjoining public squares and traffic areas.
Existing street, square, garden and riverbank areas were redesigned and redefined over an area of approx. 1.1 ha. The project examined issues such as urban illumination, street furniture, parking guidance system, accessibility, art, child-friendliness, flooding and monument preservation.
