The large housing estate Halemweg was planned by Hans Scharoun in the 1950s and 1960s and built in Charlottenburg North. The grounds of the open spaces were modeled around the so-called residential courtyards. The entire complex is protected as a listed area.
The necessary planned renovation measures include Renovation of the fire department access roads, creation of new bicycle parking areas, expansion of the garbage areas. Barrier-free ramps and lifts have been added to the existing buildings. An adapted lighting concept will ensure better safety in the estate.
The existing playgrounds no longer fulfill their function. The plans envisage retaining the shape and structure of the playgrounds and adding new equipment. One playground will be converted into an intergenerational playground, while a second will serve as a community garden with raised beds. The smaller, round sandy areas scattered throughout the site will be given a new function and serve as retreats that invite you to linger by the flowering perennial islands.
To support the sustainability aspect, extensive flower meadows were planned, which will also serve as bee pasture. Most of the trees have been preserved.
