The BlueGreenStreets (BGS) research project aims to make urban street spaces sustainable as multi-talented urban districts in the face of climate change. To this end, tools are being developed for the planning of multifunctional street spaces that increase the resource efficiency and resilience of growing cities.

Blue goals help to design streetscapes in a water-sensitive way and to

achieve. Through evaporation and shading,

shading, heat prevention is advised.

Green objectives address the creation of high-quality recreational and meeting spaces and the implementation of open space objectives in street areas, which can also contribute to heat prevention.

Together with the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district office and the two BGS partners bgmr Landschaftsarchitekten GmbH and Ingenieurbüro Prof. Dr. Sieker mbH, hochC has been working on a concept study for sections of Rudolf- and Dannecker Straße since September 2019. The aim is to drain the rainwater completely in the street via vegetation areas and to

improve the quality of stay and use for residents, relieve the urban climate (cooling through shading and evaporation) and retain heavy rainfall in green and street areas without causing damage.
