On the market square, there was a permanent problem with traffic on the square around the bends, which needed to be stopped. There was also a desire for green elements on the square to improve the quality of the space. Flexible use of the square, e.g. for the weekly market, should still be possible. The furnishing of the square was designed with plant elements to emphasize the building in front of the square. The linear placement of the elements gives the square a clear boundary. A drinking fountain was positioned to the side of the town hall. The plant elements and the fountain are made of light-colored polished concrete, with a band of clinker brick slips inserted in the upper third, reminiscent of Zehdenick's brick tradition. The bricks already appear in various ways in the townscape, for example as path edging.
