As part of an appraisal process and competition, the open spaces of the Nürtingen elementary school were to be transformed into an attractive, qualified location for schoolchildren in line with the special urban situation and monument preservation aspects. Our approach is based on the fact that the school children will be accompanied by the new school grounds over a period of six years. An eventful time in which space for ideas and free development, but also orientation, protection and self-discovery should be offered. The central design theme "New spaces for jungle dreams" will be divided into four open spaces: a schoolyard with a jungle opposite the school building, a "beyond the wall" area with a labyrinth and school garden, a pavilion courtyard with seating islands, bicycle stands, open classrooms and a front garden with a monument and hydrangea fields.
