The area, which is called the "Scheibe" in Neuzelle, is a natural hill whose shape was altered in the Baroque period for the construction of the Kreuzkirche church and to create a vineyard. It was slightly terraced and narrow, horizontal paths and gently sloping embankments were laid out on a regular circular ground plan. In addition, a system of alleys running radially to the center was planned and the hill was planted with vines and fruit trees. The history of the "Scheibe" and its uses were determined as part of a broad-based basic investigation requested by the BLDAM and, in particular, the basic forms of the topography in its baroque form and in the form of the 20th century were drawn. A concept for the use and topographical restoration of the entire "Scheibe" was drawn up. Among other things, this involved the height and inclination of the slopes and terraces as well as the exact location of the alleyways. This concept formed the basis for the design of the open spaces for the Kutschstall and Kanzlei. At the coach house, the areas underneath the "Holy Sepulchre" museum were restored in accordance with the basic survey and thus integrated into the historic open space system.
