The generous expanse and the significance of the circular route as a green connection surrounding the Schäfersee will be preserved and strengthened. Spatial relationships to the water will be emphasized, crossing points to the shore and urban space will be highlighted. The circular path will be paved in a sustainable and barrier-free manner to enable all users to make safe and comfortable progress. In places, islands of different sizes will be cut out of the light-colored asphalt surface and provided with water-permeable surfaces and green areas. These so-called cut-outs accommodate existing trees and new plantings, among other things. But there are also a variety of other uses and recreational opportunities here. The shape of these island-like cut-outs is adapted to the flowing movement of visitors and loosens up the riverside path.
The historical visual axes and new views are staged by cutting down individual trees. This will also restore visual connections from the urban space to Lake Schäfersee.
The avenues of trees will be incorporated as monument axes and completed again. Particular attention will be paid to the preserved historical planting structures: chestnut avenue, lime avenue and perennial garden. The riverside zone will be made tangible again by thinning out the vegetation on the banks and adding to and further developing the existing viewing platforms, and will be better connected to the riverside path. The elements of the historic park will be carefully and critically restored, preserved in their historic form and linked together via the upgraded circular path.
The different atmospheres of the biotopes along the circular path will be further developed and their uniqueness strengthened, creating an exciting contrast between open and rather dense parts of the park and different green atmospheres. Crossings along paths are emphasized and become individual points of orientation.
