Based on the neighboring dune landscape along the Baltic Sea coast, we have designed a low-maintenance garden for this vacation home that develops strongly from its context and yet is unique as a private garden. The topography with various dunes not only gives the garden its character but also creates different private spaces for the owners and vacation guests without physical barriers such as fences and hedges.
The project draws on the local materiality for the materiality and plant selection. However, the recycled granite stones are installed as cut heads, which creates a clear difference to the otherwise rather rustic-looking stones in the village landscape. Corten steel is used for fixtures such as wheel brackets and bollard lights as well as the edges of the flower beds.
