CONCEPT
Schadowstraße is an important part of Düsseldorf and is one of the highest-turnover shopping streets in the state capital. Due to the construction of the Wehrhahn line, however, it has been heavily affected by construction work in recent years. With the development of the new open spaces on the Kö-Bogen, a new image has been established for large areas to the east of Königsallee. This new grounding - characterized by a very high-quality light grey concrete block - is taken up and continued in Schadowstraße.
DRAFT
The street space of Schadowstraße is shared by various users - cyclists heading to work, suppliers delivering to the stores, visitors and strollers. Areas are defined for each. A special piece of furniture, some elements of art and a water feature create a new identity for the street. The "Schadow" lounge chair immediately catches the visitor's eye. The yellow seating sculpture invites you to rest, chat, take a break, eat or read the newspaper. Trees create places, atmosphere and a sense of security. The trees, deliberately placed in groups rather than in rows, slow down the flow, open up new perspectives, create spaces and generate a quality of stay.
