Dortmund city centre, like many other highly urbanized areas, is characterized by dense building structures with a high degree of sealing, which leads to the formation of an urban heat island. There is a comprehensive need for action to reduce heat pollution, particularly in districts that are classified as inner city climatopes. For this reason, a greening concept with specific measures is to be developed for the City im Wall and Wallring. The aim of the project is to significantly increase the proportion of green spaces in the city center and along the Wall to reduce the future increase in heat pollution in Dortmund's city center and to improve the quality of stay.
- Creation of a microclimatic simulation of the existing
- Assessment of the climate relevance of green spaces in the project area
- Localization of climate-friendly greening potentials
- Climatic simulations for planning scenarios
- Review and evaluation of the climate relevance of the measures based on a comparison with the existing situation
- Derived from the simulation calculations, framework conditions and an implementation strategy are formulated, fields of action are identified and profiles of measures are developed.
