The new fitness mile was created on the old Heubergbahn embankment between Gosheim and Wehingen. The project is a joint venture between the two municipalities of Gosheim and Wehingen and was completed between April and October 2021. Over a total length of almost 3 kilometers, a connection for pedestrians and cyclists was created with an asphalt path. The education center can now also be reached safely via the new path, which is completely separated from car traffic.
Over a length of 1.6 kilometers, there are four stations with sports equipment where young and old can improve their fitness and health using a variety of training equipment. With different focuses and levels of difficulty, coordination, strength, endurance, flexibility and mobility are strengthened and are therefore equally suitable for every physical condition and the different user groups, such as schoolchildren, athletes and senior citizens. The stations were developed by the TU Munich Sports Institute and produced by the equipment manufacturer Playparc. The equipment is kept in a uniform green color and thus blends harmoniously into the surrounding landscape. There is an information board at each station describing the exercise variants, each with 3 levels of difficulty. The fitness equipment is complemented by benches that stretch along the entire path and offer a wonderful view.
The project was supported and co-financed by the Upper Danube Nature Park, the Baden-Württemberg Ministry for Rural Areas and Consumer Protection and GlücksSpirale.
