Jury verdict: In front of the impressive alpine panorama, the author develops the garden as a connecting element between the old and new buildings.
A sloping lawn field spans the central eye-catcher between a florally compressed stream section, a stepped hedge flank and the two buildings. Through the skilful play with topography, coupled with a powerful setting of support-securing walls of Corten steel, this field develops memorable images of almost sculptural effect in the changing sunlight.
The work is convincing through this artificial exaggeration of an intrinsically traditional element and its dialogue with the classical plant themes in contrast with the charming landscape.
