Today's Stadtpark developed from the Stadthallengarten of 1914 and the Jadega in 1931.
It is part of the grounds of the first German Federal Garden Show in 1951 and is still largely authentically preserved. The excellent state of maintenance with largely original perennial plantings and rose garden make the city park one of the most popular parks in Hannover.
The design style and the use of materials of the 50s have been almost completely preserved.... The park's surviving sculptures are excellent examples of art from the 1930s and 1950s. The rose garden and perennial garden are original preserved as 'mature gardens' and are in very good condition for maintenance.
The park is attractively popular with citizens and convention visitors year-round. As the park is locked in the evening, the high quality of design can be maintained. for citizens and congress visitors therefore very popular with older people. Additional mobile furniture allows individually chosen places to stay and view.
A long-term concept for the preservation and development of this listed site is in preparation.
1914 Inauguration of the "Stadthallengarten" in connection with the construction of the Stadthalle (architects Scholer and Bonatz).
1933 "Annual Show of German Garden Culture" as a horticultural exhibition on the 11 ha exhibition grounds at the Stadthalle and beyond Clausewitzstraße.(Garden architect Wilhelm Hübotter)
Widespread destruction of the site with over 100 bomb craters.
1948-51 Preparation of the entire Jadega site for the 1st Federal Garden Show with perennial garden, rose garden and café, model gardens, water basin and watercourses. Subsequent deconstruction of the areas east of Clausewitzstraße to sports and recreation areas.
1963/64 Redesign of the so-called fountain garden under Dr. Erwin Laage, later head of the garden and cemetery office in the typical style of the time.
Further change 1974 by hotel building and wing extension 1974 in the main entrance area as well as 1996 by addition of a 400 m ² large Japanese tea garden with the tea house donated by the city of Hiroshima.
