The southern section of Chemnitz Stadtpark is a generously designed landscape park with spacious meadows and a network of paths in keeping with the taste of the period in which it was created. Groups of copses structure the floodplain areas and create a multi-layered effect of depth. This area of the city park is bordered by the Chemnitz River in the northeast and the steep slope of the Chemnitz Valley in the southwest.
The preservation of the character of the floodplain landscape was already in the design plans of 1909 goal of Otto Werner.
Designation as a protected natural monument 'Southern City Park' according to SächsDSchG and area natural monument 'City Park Slope' according to SächNatSchG.
