In the twenties and thirties of the 20th century, the city of Görlitz built communal tenements from the Südstadt in the direction of Rauschwalde - the Reichertstraße and the Büchtemannstraße. At that time, one reached Rauschwalde, which was incorporated in 1925, on foot via paths that led through fields and meadows.
Taking into account the great housing shortage after the Second World War, extensive residential buildings were constructed on these agriculturally used areas in the 1950s.
At the same time, the formerly private, sparse grove of birch trees was turned into a public green space. A sandstone pergola planted with clematis forms the impressive entrance situation for this part of the park.

At the end of the fifties began with the expansion of the plant according to the plan of the Görlitz garden director Henry Kraft.
As with many green spaces in the city, so also in the creation of this park the Görlitz citizens were directly involved in the framework of the National Reconstruction Work (NAW). In many voluntary hours of work and with primitive means from today's point of view, earthworks and civil engineering works were performed and transports were carried out.
A diversely designed residential area park with a planted water area, a large meadow and perennial beds was created. Woody plants in various growth forms and groups of different flowering shrubs give the park an exciting framework.
In 2010, the playground was redesigned. Inspired by the existing tree population in the birch grove, the landscape architecture office Krüger from Dresden designed a play idea dealing with "animal hiding places". Together with the equipment manufacturer ZIMMER
