The square is covered with fine-leaved trees. From the east, the individual specimens become increasingly dense, forming a dense grove with an almost oppressive narrowness. The grove ends abruptly at the narrowest point of the square. Here the line runs for the moment of the instruction of the so-called valve opening (21.20 o'clock). At this time, the first GDR citizen without exit papers was able to cross the bridge. As tree species for the grove Prunus sub. "Autumnalis" is proposed. This ornamental cherry is the only one of its kind to flower in mild weather in autumn. The trunks will be illuminated at night.

The space between the bridge bastion and the cherry tree grove is equipped with four image carriers as a central place of historical information. The image carriers are designed to rotate and can thus be placed in different ways in relation to each other. They are deliberately arranged in a concentrated manner and are located in the immediate vicinity of the wall path and the bridge.

The bastion area at the bridge is read as a "distant", very individual space, facing the bridge and the expanse of the railway facilities. With a view of the Wall Trail along the former border, the place of public remembrance with the memorial stone will have its focal point here.
