So far, 34 path construction measures have been carried out along the Berlin Wall Trail. Because of its concept as a historical theme trail, preserving as much of the original substance of the former border path as possible was a high priority. The path construction measures were therefore limited to closing gaps in areas where the path route no longer existed and to repairing sections of the path that were not safe for traffic.

The seven-kilometer route begins in the center of the "new" Berlin, where the formerly divided halves of the city have grown together. The inner city tour from Potsdamer Platz to Warschauer Brücke is only seven kilometers long, but because of the many memorials and places of remembrance you should plan enough time for this stage.
Parallel to the former Luisenstädtischer Kanal between Engelbecken and Schillingbrücke, as well as at Stralauer Platz and parallel to Mühlenstraße, the bike path is developed on both sides of the green or streets. Because of the wall remains and traces, the southern or southwestern path is the more interesting one. The tight local transport network along this stage allows you to break off the tour at any time.
