The picturesque but somewhat outdated Rathenaupark in the Thuringian spa town of Bad Salzungen was given a makeover. The focus was on dealing sensitively with the existing buildings, but also on adapting them to today's needs and requirements. The planning objectives were to upgrade the banks of the Burgsee lake, revitalize the park and better link the two areas.

A number of "new places" were created in the park and along the redesigned shoreline areas, which provide offers for different user groups: for older and younger people, for spa guests and locals. The lake garden, the lake steps and the tree gardens were created in the shore area, while the park balconies and the salt playground were created in the park.
