The new Lensterstrand centre, connected to the particularly heavily frequented Baltic Sea cycle path in the section between Grömitz and Kellenhusen, is significantly characterised by a large-scale wooden plank construction which forms a public square. This place floats optically easily over the nature area surrounding it and is to be reached over stairs and ramps.
In addition, an observation tower and three service buildings are attached to the wooden deck, which contain a various use offer of information, bicycle rental, DLRG station, over different catering trade, music, culture and association meeting.
The Lensterstrand district of the municipality of Grömitz is located between the dyke promenade and the Mittelweg directly on the Bay of Lübeck. With the focus for camping tourism, the district represents an essential component of the tourist offer of the Baltic Sea resort of Grömitz.
As the first building block for the strengthening of Lensterstrand, the design and development of the new center Lensterstrand including service buildings and an additional promenade path is planned.
The construction measure as the first phase of construction is to be realized in the period from summer 2011 to spring 2012.
The dune landscape is thematically and creatively taken up and also continued in the design in the dike hinterland. This applies both to the new buildings to be designed and the public open spaces.
