The Reilshof, built in 1936, was placed under protection as a monument ensemble. The garden city-like, loosened up complex represents a high-quality example of the housing construction of the 1930s. The enrichment of the complex by two sculptures by Richard Horn - "Woman with Cat" and "Harmonica Player" - should be emphasized.
The aim of the redevelopment was the renovation of the outdoor facilities in accordance with the requirements of a listed building, taking into account the current functional requirements. The basic structure of the historic complex and reusable building elements were preserved as far as possible and supplemented with new elements made of contemporary materials.
Tenant gardens for some of the ground floor apartments, rubbish collection areas integrated into the complex by means of trellises and children's play equipment lead to new living and usage qualities. On the heavily trafficked Wolfensteinstrasse, structural glass elements provide noise, dust and visual protection. Each of the redesigned courtyards has its own planting theme to highlight the identity and distinctiveness of each outdoor space.
