Village square Leobendorf

The new layout of the town centre in Leobendorf defines a square in appropriate dimensions, which combines the church forecourt and the adjacent green area with fanned-out paved areas, green joints and interlockings.
The planning was developed and discussed in a two-stage public participation from suggestions of the population.

The new square is structured by changes in the pavement, strips of paving, gravel lawn and asphalt create a delicate zoning and at the same time span the square between the church, park and war memorial. The end of the paved area to the green space is formed by a concrete edge, which also provides a seating area.
The special objects such as a drinking fountain and play object were developed with local sculptors and made of regional material such as Adnet limestone and complement the range of seating platforms and benches made of sweet chestnut, some of which are located under the existing trees. They form a beautiful ensemble and a new "good parlour" for the village.
