The design for the outdoor facilities develops from the architectural concept of the buildings (ensemble of the entire hospital, opening to Lake Constance) on the one hand and the landscape structures found in the surroundings of the site (orchards) on the other. The tension between functional orthogonality and orientation towards the landscape of the area, which characterize the figure of the new building, is transferred to the outdoor space and integrated into a meaningful development.

The core area of the design is a garden courtyard enclosed on three sides with the common areas for the patients of the ZfP. Two terraces are connected barrier-free to the common rooms of the wards and at the same time open up the inner courtyard, which is designed as a rose garden. Hedges of wild roses structure the inner area and subtly provide the necessary demarcation of the wards. Lawn areas represent further outdoor recreation areas. Within these, raised beds with tactile and scented plants create colour and scent accents. In the western part of the inner courtyard, beyond the patient gardens, lounge areas are embedded within the gently sloping meadow areas with gravel lawns, which are informally available for gymnastics and play. At the western corner of the site, this courtyard flows into the meadow-like setting that surrounds the entire building. In this environment, the delivery with the employee parking is organized in the south. To the east is the spacious forecourt of the ZfP which is covered with trees at its edges (seating areas). From the south, to the east of the new building for radiation therapy, there is access to the forecourt. The building receives a roof greening/design in three different degrees of intensity. A simple gravel roof will be installed on the western extension.

The majority of the roof area will receive extensive greening in the form of ground cover and gravel strips in alternation. Opposite the Sinova area, the roof of the single-storey north wing will be intensively landscaped with extensive plantings, tubs and pathways (2nd escape route).
