Detailed design and construction supervision of a playground and town square

The reconstruction of the Heinrich-Lersch-Platz in the Essen district of Katernberg is taking place after a previously conducted public participation. In this, the wishes of the residents and users for the redesign of the square were asked for in a participatory action and their possible realisation was examined. The necessary reconstruction of the outdated and no longer up-to-date equipped play and recreation areas is to follow a clear structuring into toddlers', school children's and youth areas as well as a neighbourhood area. The outdated shrub vegetation will be abandoned; in the future, continuous lawns with only solitary trees will dominate the image of the square. The current high percentage of sealed surfaces (over 50% paved areas) will be greatly reduced in favour of sunbathing and play areas. In these reconstruction measures, the sustainable and resource-saving handling of the substance material plays a major role: Existing building and soil masses are preferably reprocessed and partly used after preparation for path paving and terrain modelling.
