A "knowledge landscape" of different landscapes is the basic idea that determines the open space concept of the school grounds. Plantings with silvery-leaved, Mediterranean-like woody plants, the school's own fruit garden with adjacent orchard and a studio courtyard with whimsical-looking willow trees characterize the grounds. Integrated into this are the atrium courtyards for the all-day area with inlays for ball games, climbing or balancing, a generous staircase with seating steps as well as small playing fields for school sports.
A carpet of ashlar slabs connects the spatial relationships between inside and outside and ensures the close interlocking of the architecture with the landscape.
The natural space to the adjacent Spießwald forest is largely preserved, meadow areas, extensive green roofs and tree plantings are additionally created as compensation.
