Green centre - Böblingen/ Sindelfingen airfield

The former Böblingen/ Sindelfingen airfield has been developed into a high-quality urban quarter that provides for commercial, service and administrative uses, higher education, residential, leisure and recreational facilities. In the middle of this new urban quarter, a park spans: the "Grüne Mitte" with a play and sports park, on a total area of 85,000 m². The northern end of the park is formed by the "Langer See" (Long Lake), which ensures the rainwater disposal/rainwater management of the quarter. The park is accessed in the south via a wide promenade, whose linear design elements of benches, hedge and grass strips fulfil the demarcation to the adjacent residential area. A curved recreational path in the north of the park connects the different areas of the park with each other and leads into the play and sports park, which reminds of the past as an airfield with a climbing tower and a roller sports field and a play hangar.
