A narrow enclosure marks the direct surroundings of the church and forms a new "cathedral plateau". It peels out of the square with up to three steps and takes up the existing height difference, which is the result of the former churchyard. With benches under trees this place becomes a quiet, also spiritual area to stay. The edge of the square is to become a lively place with the water feature, shops and café uses.
For this planning, Christine Wolf and Rebekka Junge, wbp landscape architects, Bochum, received the North Rhine-Westphalian Landscape Architecture Award 2012 on 31 May 2012.
