Public open space for several institutions
In the Campus am Stern, the existing public paths were developed into a network of paths, squares and green spaces that link all the institutions located there. The area underwent a functional reorganisation, the open spaces of the schools and the outdoor sports facilities were upgraded and supplemented by new public green spaces.
The basic structure is formed by two intersecting bands: the central campus band as an elongated, urban square and the leisure band with a variety of sports and play facilities. The campus also presents itself uniformly to the outside through its new enclosure of walls and low fences.
Network of green spaces as a place of communication
This creates a network of green spaces that offer a variety of opportunities for rest and recreation as well as space for active leisure activities. The parts of the recreational belt to the north of the school grounds are shared by the schools.
The plaza areas serve as places of communication, while at the same time the thoroughfares and overall connectivity have been significantly improved. Overall, the campus also creates a recreational space that is important for the surrounding area.
