Adjacent to the old town of Passau, a new quarter is being created at a central location between the Inn and the Danube with a shopping centre, cinema, shops, offices, multi-storey car parks and an urban square. After demolition of the Nibelungenhalle and the adjoining car park, a new square will be created in reference to the listed surroundings, which will create the Neue Mitte as an open space with a variety of functions and areas (stay, play, events, university forecourt, café, water and greenery, etc.).
