For the extension of Aalen University of Applied Sciences for
3,000 students, a site was chosen on the outskirts of the city
which captivates with its striking hillside location and a
wide view over the Swabian Alb. The
urban and architectural framework consists
of long parallel strips, on which development
and building structures are stringently organized
longitudinally. The corso is the connecting axis on the
campus; like a zipper, it links
the institute buildings. Essentially, the
FH campus consists of wood, concrete, and lawn. The sparing
choice of materials supports the urban concept
and ensures a clear design of the open spaces.
