On the initiative of the Opelvillen Foundation, the garden of Villa Wenske was redesigned according to historical models. The work was financed by the "Regionalpark Rhein-Main-Südwest gGmbH". The planning was carried out in close consultation with the State Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments.

"Unfortunately, as-built plans of the garden were not available, but we succeeded in reconstructing the original design of the garden on the basis of old photos".

Fritz Opel had the garden of the Villa Wenske, built in 1916, which today houses the Christian Buer restaurant and the Rüsselsheim registry office. Based on this, the section in the area of the terrace was designed with a circular path around a central lawn, topiary and benches. In the western section, a sunken garden with a rose bed was created. In addition, the property enclosure was renovated with plinth walls and a steel fence.

"The harmonious overall appearance of the garden makes reference to the history of the Villa Wenske and reintegrates the building into the garden space."

"Especially in the beautiful season, the Opelvillen are then one attraction richer and there is one more reason to visit the exhibition house," says Dr. Beate Kemfert, curator and chairman of the Opelvillen Foundation.
