As part of the expansion, the building underwent an energy retrofit by architects F29.
The open space design takes on the simple linear design of the building and presents beautiful structural, color and flowering aspects through a lighter and representative planting in every season. The friendly atmosphere invites visitors to linger. New seating has been created. Both sides of the IÖR are accessible via the terraces in the inner courtyard, so that the library and the event hall are now visually and pathways connected.
The design features a light interior design, with a playful approach to the various grasses and perennials planted. We chose a light-colored concrete block with natural stone facing for the one in the courtyard and the one outside at the main entrance. The colour tone corresponds as far as possible to that of the Jurassic slabs in the interior of the institute.
After the courtyard, the entrance and the parking spaces have been designed, the design of the open spaces surrounding the building has now begun. The main idea of designing the areas with large and small broken limestones and a light and flowery planting was adopted. In addition to the many grasses and perennials here, the planting was supplemented by shrubs and small-crowned trees. The next construction phase is in progress.
