University of Cologne, Refreshment Room Outdoor canteens at the main building of the University of Cologne

Since the redesign, the outdoor area around the refreshment room, which was unused at the time, now offers students the opportunity to enjoy their drinks and meals in the fresh air. For this purpose, concrete seating blocks were manufactured to match the natural stone exterior facades and placed completely around the base of the refreshment room. Further concrete blocks were placed orthogonally to the building. The seating areas are made of high pressure laminate. Stainless steel railings as scaffolding for the bar tables and at the same time as demarcation to the planting areas were designed by my office especially for this application. Smaller high-pressure laminate bench tops are mounted on these railings as standing table tops.
