The "Old Town Hall Square" is the central and at the same time the only square in Menden's old town. Here, the Hauptstraße as the "private" axis with shops and the Bahnhofstraße as the "public" axis with the adjacent facilities such as the railway station, town hall, old town hall and St. Vincenz church meet.
With the redesign, the old town hall square has moved back to the centre of the town. He is just as the natural meeting place as the place where events take place in Menden. Even the weekly market has returned here.
The square is paved with a sandstone-colored concrete block pavement that appears "directionless" at first glance. In its centre, between the old town hall and the church, a carpet of large-format slabs of the same material stands out.
A special feature is a paving inlay of different natural stone materials on the east side of the square, where the Glockenteichbach stream will be routed in future once it has been uncovered. Seating blocks specially designed and manufactured for this construction project, made of a very high-quality concrete core with wooden supports, accompany the watercourse.
In the southern area of the square, the stream runs in a box channel. The areas for outdoor catering are marked by uniform sunshades.
