The new Thalkirchner Platz has a special status as the northern prelude to the new development and as Thalkirchen's new central square:
The shaping of an appealing urban public space for the people of Thalkirchen, a striking intermediate stop along the supra-regional Isar valley railroad cycle path and, last but not least, the harmonious transition into the Isar floodplain nature reserve.
With the exception of the new building on the southern edge of the square, the square lacks clear visual edges due to the disintegrated urban structure. The design concept therefore defines the square with space-creating backdrops of trees and shrubs without separating it from its surroundings. The basic idea of the design is based on the dialog between city and landscape at all design levels. Planting islands "wash" onto the square surface paved with concrete blocks (parquet-like, narrow longitudinal formats), condensed towards the Isar floodplains natural space and extending into the urban space. The visual connections to the natural space are retained. Forms and materials combine urban and natural elements.
