A typical element of the adjacent natural area of the Mecklenburg-Strelitz district, the outwash plains, is depicted transferred in the "dunes". The elongated pyramid-shaped earthen bodies divide the former parade ground into intensively designed recreation areas in front of the buildings and the actual parking lot. Towards the buildings, the dunes are architecturally delimited by a low wall made of gabions. The vegetation of dry grassland creates different images depending on the season through flowering aspects and mowing.

Between the dunes are passageways that open up the main entrances from the parking lot and connect the administrative buildings to each other.
The parking spaces are lined up along several spur roads leading off the access road. The drive aisles curve slightly towards the main entrance. Dense, irregular rows of trees have been planted between each spur road. This creates the effect of a forest-like tree population. Due to the soil conditions, the installation of elaborate drainage systems could be dispensed with. Instead, the access roads and parking spaces were drained into the troughs covered with trees. Gravel trenches snaking between the trees in the troughs catch larger amounts of rain.
