The monastery complex in Neukloster has a high cultural-historical value. This area is to be made accessible to the public, the traces of the past visible to visitors. On the basis of investigations into site plans, views and writings on the historical monastery complex, the entire complex was worked on in a preliminary design. The planning attempts to unite the most diverse demands such as those of the parish, the town of Neukloster, the preservation of historical monuments, the kindergarten as well as private individuals.
The implementation of the planning took place in several construction phases. In 2005, the Jungfern- or Mühlenteich was restored to its original location. Further work followed from 2006 to 2008. A new orchard was created to the west and south of the Propstei. The grid of newly planted fruit trees creates a basic structure that ties together the valuable existing trees, ditches, new paths and the "water art".
A system of paths connects Kirchstraße, Jungfernteich, Propstei and the lake. A "balcony" offers views of the landscape. Remnants of the old monastery wall have been visibly carved out again. A path leads to the newly designed square at the historic wash and spring stone. Information boards provide information on the historical significance of the individual areas within the grounds.
The newly restored monastery park is an outdoor location of the BUGA Schwerin 2009.
