In connection with the tram line built in 1928, a riverside promenade lined with column poplars had been laid out along the banks of the Main in Fechenheim.
The promenade, which had become very run-down in the meantime, was redesigned and upgraded with four viewing pulpits.
The outdated, dying trees were replaced and the path surfaces were renewed to a high standard. The Main was brought back into the field of vision of the Fechenheim population by opening up the embankment vegetation and building ramps, steps and bank flattenings.
