Creation Garden at the Luther Birthplace Ensemble Eisleben

The open space newly gained by demolishing dilapidated outbuildings was designed as a public garden and resting space under the title "Creation Garden" and integrated into the overall ensemble of Luther's birthplace as well as into the "Luther Trail" theme path.

The Creation Garden is understood as an introverted place. A new spatial edge frames the largely horizontal level. Its focal point is the "lawn cushion": a moving topography with manicured lawn, crowned by the walnut tree. On the western clinker brick wall, there are benches on the garden side, from which the view opens towards the birthplace under the loose roof of a small fruit grove of peaches and apricots. The new edge of the room takes up the course of the former enclosure wall and marks the historical edge of the building. In order to make clear that it belongs to the Luther Birthplace ensemble and to achieve better accessibility to the garden, the spatial edge is permeable in sections: it consists of transversely positioned slats with a head beam placed on top. The gaps allow convenient, barrier-free access to the public garden from the sidewalk along "Bad Seven".

Neven the slight allusions - the fruit of the fruit trees or the lawn cushion as a model of a new world to be created - above all a lettering on the inside of the garden forms the connection to the "Luther Way".
