Redesign of a residential complex with green roof on the underground car park

Under the motto 'Living and working at Kaarster Lake', a residential development with an inner courtyard on the one hand and a commercial building with a warehouse on the other hand were created on an area of approx. 5,000 m². Underneath the inner courtyard is an underground car park.

A special challenge in this project is the inner courtyard with the underground car park underneath. Building heights and load-bearing capacity of the roof are given special attention in the planning. The client's desire for a water-influenced design increases the demands on the planning concept.
Small tenant gardens are laid out along the terrace exits in the inner courtyard, bordered in parts by hedges to maintain intimacy. The water area with plant island and wooden walkways serve more for contemplation than for active use, so that the balance between use and contemplation is maintained throughout the inner courtyard.
