The municipality of Dorfprozelten intended to extend the existing cemetery in a south-easterly direction.
The cemetery expansion area is located in the "Dorfäcker" parcel on the adjacent property and is accessible via the main road St 2315.
10 parking spaces are located at the northern entrance to the cemetery.
A second entrance is located to the south and provides access via a gravel path to the existing cemetery with a burial hall.
The height difference of the entire site is around 4.50 m.
The total size of the planning area is around 3,800 m²:
Area of the cemetery extension approx. 2500 m², access road to the new cemetery approx. 1,000 m² and area of the parking spaces with border planting approx. 300 m²
The municipal property, which is planted with fruit trees, slopes from north to south with a gradient of around 7%
.
A slope of 3.5% was planned for the extension area, which was achieved by filling in the terrain accordingly.
The existing cemetery wall was demolished in the area of the extension area in order to create a connection with the existing cemetery.
The main path that connects the two entrance gates now runs along this opening.
A 3.00 m wide access path branches off centrally from the main path to the rows of burial plots.
The side paths between the rows of burial plots are 1.20 m wide.
The main design element is the square-like widening and the transition zone at the eastern end of the access path, which is intended for urn walls, a natural stone scoop point and benches. Seating under the trees offers opportunities for rest, reflection and communication.
The burial plots are arranged in a manageable way, with the contemporary, space-saving and space-effective "head-to-toe" layout being implemented.
The individual graves with gravestones are aligned with the main path in order to have the viewing side of the gravestones in view. The rows of graves are laid out as lawns, with the individual graves divided into two rows of paving.
In order to ensure the long-term stability of the gravestones in the burial plots, the burial plots are provided with concrete strip foundations.
Low hedges form a "green separation" between the burial areas and the access path.
In the extension area, 40 family graves, 16 single graves and two urn walls with 14 urn boxes each have been created for the municipality of Dorfprozelten.
The cemetery is integrated into the surrounding landscape with a grass embankment at a ratio of 1:2 in a south-easterly direction.
The framing, space-creating planting with trees appropriate to the location and a trimmed hedge forms the end of the cemetery and contributes to the harmonious integration of the cemetery into the surrounding landscape.
In the area of the parking lot, a framework planting is planned, consisting mainly of native deciduous trees such as Norway maple and field maple, wild cherry and small-leaved lime. A low-growing underplanting of flowering and fruit-bearing shrubs integrates the parking areas into the surrounding landscape.
