Various design measures, based on an Agenda 21 process, extend the range of uses for visitors and users of the Laufen city park. The special location in the urban context, as well as the old tree population and the staging of special views contribute to an inviting overall image of the park.
The concept emphasizes the park's prominent position in the former moat. The functional areas are deliberately condensed, while the area in front of the old city wall is deliberately kept free to give it space to act. This makes it a special and important element and gives the park a special atmosphere. The entrance areas are lined by simple multifunctional green spaces and lead the visitor naturally into the park.
The continuous element is a wide oscillating band of slabs, which, in intersection with the path, zones individual attached partial areas, in which there is room for a water feature, seating areas, flower beds or a playground.
The flowing form of the band allows a highly self-conscious design on the one hand, on the other hand sensitive to the trees reacting, which bundles the functions.
The open spaces, play elements and a water table with fountain meet the various usage requirements and are completed by the preservation of the old tree population to a pleasant, quiet park.
Project period divided into two phases, first phase from 2001 to 2002 followed by the second phase from 2009 to 2010. The final completion in 2011.
Execution: Eibl, Traunreut
