Around the Raadhuisplein, formerly a thoroughfare and large car park, a department store complex and the town hall with adjoining old town to the east, and the theatre and zoo to the west, are gathered, among other things. The new construction of the tunnel and the underground car park have made it possible to redesign the urban space and meet the different expectations of the user groups.
Warm wood and glittering water mediate and link between "hard" and "soft" landscape, between commerce administration and culture recreation. A carpet of stone, interspersed with greenery, frames and connects the heterogeneous development and the landscape islands to create a whole new urban open space.
