The children's house was extensively renovated in 2014 and then reopened with an increased number of children (from 80 to 104 children). The construction measures, the higher number of children and many aging playground equipment also made it necessary to renovate the outdoor area and rethink the concept.
Thus, the largely unused area of the northern outdoor area is integrated and the southern part of the garden is accessible without barriers. The previously shared open space is separated into areas for crèche children in the front garden area (approx. 32 children) and for kindergarten children (approx. 72 children) in the rear garden section. The demands of the individual age groups are met by individually designed movement areas with age-appropriate play equipment and play surfaces. The space between the individual play equipment is kept large enough to be used individually by the children.
The existing play equipment and garden elements in the previous facility were brought into a new conceptual context. The play areas have been restructured and in parts supplemented or replaced with new play equipment. For this purpose, a competition was held among those play equipment designers who could develop individually designed play equipment for this kindergarten.
