The extensively redesigned and renovated Steiermark wine farm is situated on an eastern slope with a sweeping view towards Slovenia. As part of the renovation work on the buildings, the 4 hectares of grounds are being redesigned. The land is divided into three areas: an outer mixed forest belt, meadow slopes with cultural landscape relics, orchards, mixed hedges and vines, as well as a formally designed garden area close to the house. A high retaining wall separates the intensively designed garden terrace from the adjacent meadow slope. In keeping with the topographical features of the site, the design elements of the garden are oriented towards the north-south contour lines of the terrain. Garden walls, planting beds, pathways and the pool area take up the directional relationships of the slope. A five-step elevation jump between the main house terrace and the pool area supports the open view of the valley.
