On the former Hagen grounds at the foot of the Pöstlingberg in Linz-Urfahr, the province of Upper Austria is erecting a new university building for the Anton Bruckner Private University. The new building is integrated into a park-like outdoor area that offers play and recreational facilities, including an outdoor stage.
The building occupies its space as an abstract sculpture in the park. It is interwoven in many layers with the surroundings: The park is let into the interior via large glazed sections of the façade and, conversely, the music enters the park via an open staircase. The building curves with Hagenstraße and encloses a spacious terrace with outdoor furniture and water feature in the south.
Extensive lawns and meadows are framed on all sides by perennial plantings and woody plants. The hillside location offers impressive views of the surrounding banks of the Danube, which are framed and accentuated by existing and newly planted woody plants.
