The design goal was to clean up the promenade from the multitude of disorderly fixtures and to form it into a high-quality recreational area in the urban space. Cautious, orderly interventions restored lost spatial connections. The existing quality of the spaces was emphasized and further developed.

The street opposite the Upper Austrian seat of government has an open, generous character. Its abundance of historic buildings comes to the fore against the calm background of a few, differentiatedly used materials. The individual buildings can develop in their own way and radiate into the urban space.

Granite from Upper Austrian quarries was used. The stone characterizes the urban space and underlines its landscape-connected identity. The calm, parquet-like surface connects the individual sections of the promenade across all crossings and changes of direction. Its special format makes the promenade unmistakable among the other squares in Linz's inner city, but also makes its affiliation clearly perceptible.
