A new park for Calenberger Neustadt and the residents of the Linden district is being created in the middle of the state capital of Hanover on the banks of the Ihme. The redesign of the Ihmepark is linked to the implementation of extensive flood protection measures and will significantly improve the open space situation in the prominent inner city district once it is completed.
The high-quality landscaping offers new recreational areas for various uses in the park and on the waterfront. Newly designed play areas are being created around the Glocksee youth center. The dirt park will create additional facilities for young people in the area of the Glocksee youth center, while various platforms with high-quality recreational facilities will be created on the waterfront.
An attractive, barrier-free pedestrian and cycle path system will be integrated into the new city park. The jetty of the white fleet will be connected to the light rail network. The construction project will begin in 2010 with the first construction phase and will be completed in spring 2013.
