Siegfried-Wedells-Platz Forecourt design for a modernized insurance building

In the course of the new construction of a reception box for the Hanse-Merkur insurance company at Siegfried-Wedells-Platz in Hamburg, a forecourt with a driveway was placed in front of the new building.
The paving of this forecourt with anthracite-coloured concrete block paving in herringbone bond could be continued in the public street area, so that the square gains in generosity.
Amorphous, boomerang-like walls made of exposed concrete as well as plant islands structure the square area and take up the architectural language of the front building. The front areas of the listed house 'Wedell' were cleared, a generous lawn and a path of lawn joint slabs leading to the gateway form a harmonious border to the forecourt area.
