Petrusheim Weeze

In the Petrusheim in Weeze, people in need of help from the street find a new home. Attached to this nursing home are a farm and other workshops that provide employment for the people living there.

The area was supplemented by a modern new building with apartments for the elderly and a canteen. The building, with its distinctive coloured façade, encloses a courtyard which picks up the colour scheme of the structure and forms a prominent meeting place. The path structure is wheelchair accessible, and the paths are also wide enough for all residents to reach the raised beds planted with flowering perennials.
On the south side, the courtyard is open to the landscape, and the area below the upper floors here is fully covered with a water surface. With its fish stocking, the water area offers a popular place to go, and at the same time the residents with dementia are prevented from leaving the courtyard by the water.
